Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has been featured in films and TV, and on stage, is most well-known for portraying Teri Joseph, a flamboyant attorney in the show on Showtime called Soul Food. She is now known by her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. As a child in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. When she participated in a Maryland high school contest during her first years of training, she was awarded the title for best actress. She received her degree in acting from the New York University after working in the Washington Ballet Company' and performing in the theatre. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut role in a film of major importance, was a huge success and earned her the admiration of many. Movies such as Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark followed. Soul Food received a lot of praise for her work. She has also starred in TV series like Second Time Around" and Empire. The stage was the place she appeared in a variety of productions in the beginning of her career. Parker, who takes keen interest in politics, is married to model and actor Boris Kodjoe. They have two children.
Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and resided in Nigeria for seven years, had a wide range of trips and experiences in the world of culture at an early age. From the age of seven through nine, she went to boarding school in London. The family later moved to Toronto which she stayed in for most of her childhood. Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and became a classical ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution which focuses on theatre and dance. At 16, after nearly 10 years of dancing Contractor decided to pursue acting seriously. After graduating high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained a Master's degree in Theatre. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following her one year stay at University. She was a part of the audition for the part during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. Her work was highly acclaimed for the 92 shows which she was a part of. She won an award in 2002, which was awarded to the Best Production of the Year, as judged by Canadian critics. Contractor accepted the invitation to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females accepted for the 20-week course in classical theater. Contractor was guaranteed a spot in the following season of productions and was offered the part in the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
